THE HEART OF DARKNESS
A piece of art as an inspiring tour de force.
Loosely based on Joseph Conrad's 1899 novella — relocated to present-day Europe and spanning multiple continents. Alexander Ratter's adaptation strips the colonial frame from Conrad's original and places its moral core in the present: power, complicity, and the shadow each of us casts when we choose to look away.
The film is written and directed by Alexander Ratter and produced at Picco-Studio Berlin. It is developed as an international co-production. The story follows a European protagonist drawn into a web of compromise — an intimate, visually precise journey through landscapes of human self-deception. Language: English.
